After the advent of the pandemic emphasized the need for more space and outdoor seating at bars & restaurants, Ursa Minor Brewing (UMB) expanded its patio, complete with pellet stove heaters for comfortably enjoying those crisp fall nights.

But as fall turned to winter, it was clear that Northlanders still wanted to have a beer outside. So, UMB called on us to transform their seasonal patio into a year-round destination. And we were thrilled to put our creativity to work and design a cedar canopy with a translucent roof that lets the sun in but keeps the harsh weather elements out.

The buildout of the covered patio also formalized seating and triggered the addition of another bathroom. And with the sheer volume of its pizza orders since the addition of the canopy, it even initiated a kitchen expansion to fit a larger pizza oven and more prep space.
